The aim of this program is to introduce methods used by designers when redesigning a product; it demonstrates how designers define a need or problem and the techniques and strategies used to solve those problems. The program also describes the principles of Intellectual Property and the importance of acknowledging the Intellectual Property of others. Students should develop an understanding of the role of the designer and the reasons why and how products are redesigned. Students should also develop an appreciation of the use of a structured approach towards the design process through analyzing the examples of the design practice used by a designer.
