This video is the first of two parts that follows the construction of an up-scale, wood-frame house from the empty lot to the final coat of paint. Part One concentrates on the exterior of the home and documents the stages of construction: foundation, framing, drainage, roofing, cladding, and much more. Professional tradesman are involved at every phase of the building process, including excavation of the hole, preparation of the foundation forms for concrete, framing the walls, placement of roof trusses, and final roofing. This video is appropriate for all Technology/Carpentry courses and also gives students a first-hand look at the variety of occupations involved in the construction of a house.
