Elite sportspeople are increasingly realizing that nutrition is an integral component of their training and competition. This program explores the ways elite sportspeople use nutrition to give themselves an extra edge. The program starts with a basic overview, looking in particular at the roles of individual nutrients in sports performance. We then look at competition planning, and interview a number of athletes to illustrate the differences between sports. Finally, the program examines the validity of the 'fads, pills, and potions' which seem so common in elite sport.
