Finding Stuff Out is a lively science-oriented series that answers questions that kids really want answered. How do we know? Because real kids ask the questions and help discover the answers.
Funny and witty - never earnest - the premise of the show is that our energetic young host is producing the most amped-up webcast in the universe, a webcast devoted to gathering cool questions from real kids and finding out the answers to them. We see real kids in streeters or on-line asking their questions, and as field reporters and in-studio assistants. They'll help our host investigate and answer questions, aided by colourful in-studio demonstrations, eye-catching video paks, and simple yet playful animation. Kids at home will take part in real-time experiments during the program and be invited to send in their questions via the web site.
Each broadcast episode of Finding Stuff Out kicks off with a viewer question that leads into a specific exploration. Our viewer questions will be expressed in kid vernacular, such as (and these are real examples from our outreach) "Why does the moon follow you?", "Can humans grow fur?" and "What would happen if somebody cracked the Earth?" That "BIG" question, i.e. one with lots of room to explore, provides the framework and the fun for the episode.
It all adds up to a fun and insightful show that isn't about science per se, but rather a show that uses science and some exciting situations to fascinate and engage kids by answering the myriad questions that they have about the world around them.
