With the help of our local postman, students learn that a neighborhood is a place where families live, play, work, and that schools, police and fire stations, shopping areas, parks, and homes are all located there. The postman helps us recognize that families live in many kinds of homes, that they all have addresses, and that the addresses have two main parts: a street name and building number. While some of the examples are U.S oriented, the basic concepts presented can easily be adapted for use in Canada. DVD features include on-screen teacher's guide and vocabulary plus chapter selections: (1) Introduction (2) Neighborhoods as part of communities (3) What is a neighborhood (4) What is a neighbor? (5) Families and homes in neighborhoods (6) Different kinds of homes in different kinds of neighborhoods (7) Addresses (8) Maps and review.
